mehndi

the day before the wedding

My husband Josh was born in Pakistan and moved to the U.S. when he was about 4. It was super important to us that we do a traditional Pakistani celebration the day before the wedding. The Mehndi is super bright and colorful and full of food and dancing. The word “Mehndi” means “henna” which is the red-orange stain that is applied to the bride’s hands in an intricate design. This celebration is purely a fun party to honor the bride and groom and the families coming together. To see both of our families and all of our friends dressed up in traditional clothing + dancing to Desi music was incredibly special. It was the most beautiful way to kick off our wedding weekend.
